Craniosacral Biodynamic

Craniosacral Balancing Biodynamic Therapy

A Brief History

At the beginning of the 20th century, it was discovered by osteopath Dr. W.G. Sutherland that the human cranio bones were moved by a respiratory motion of the body. In further studies, he found that all cells in the body expressed a rhythmic "breathing" in order to maintain health. This breath can be palpated as subtle movement. Dr. Sutherland then concluded this movement is produced by the bodies inherent life force. Thus he called it the Breath of Life.

The Breath of Life

Craniosacral balancing
The Breath of Life is life ‘potency’,a force which is transmitted through out the body by cerebrospinal and cellular fluids. It organises the body to keep the functions of our cells, tissue and skeletal system as a whole. Organised by the Breath of Life the fluids generate a tide like motion which can be felt anywhere on the body.
Potency carries a basic ‘Intelligence’, which helps the body to maintain health and balance. The presence of a full and balanced rhythm produced by the Breath of Life signifies a healthy system. As long as potency is distributed evenly, a healthy body is assured.

Primary Respiration

Primary Respiration (PR) is the subtle rhythym of the life force expressed through out the body. It can be palpated as a tide like motion. It underlies all other motions such as the heartbeat and the lungs respiration breathing. Every cell in the body expresses PR motion. If the expression of PR becomes congested or restricted, the bodies basic orientating principle is impeded and health is compromised. Many different body symptoms are related to disturbances of PR.

Craniosacral Biodynamics

The main intention of Craniosacral Biodynamics is to encourage the expression of a healthy flowing PR. During our lives, we develop certain body patterns and conditions according to how we encompass stress and trauma. Through stress and trauma, Biodynamic forces (health) get trapped in our body as sites of inertia. These sites disturb the natural, healthy flow of the Breath of Life and will express themselves as symptoms of pain, tension, fatigue or disease.

The aim of Craniosacral Biodynamics is to help resolve these sites of inertia and fragmentation in both body and mind by helping the body to access its own inherent health. With subtle palpation skills, sites of inertia can be recognized and helped to be resolved by following the natural healing capability of the bodies physiology.
